Gensler’s Design of Riverbed Office in Sunnyvale Completed
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — June 4, 2012 — Gensler, a leading global design and architecture firm, announced today that its design of the first phase of Riverbed Technology’s new office building in Sunnyvale has been completed.
The new Riverbed office is approximately 104,000 square feet and features sweeping views of the area, with ample natural light throughout the building. The design includes low panel workstations at the perimeter of the building to allow more natural light, while opening the space for spontaneous collaboration. Focus rooms are located at the core of the floor plan, providing space for privacy and meetings. The break room and a breakout space are positioned on opposite ends of the floor, and about 20 percent of the floor plan area is dedicated for common and conference room use.
“While new branding was introduced to give a fresh look to the design, the layout concept was an adaptation of layouts from other Riverbed facilities to maintain continuity and familiarity for the company’s workforce,” said Doug Wittnebel at Gensler.
Riverbed expressed interest in open and flexible collaborative spaces, which led Gensler to team up with furniture specialist SideMark to design the space incorporating movable workstation components that can be easily reconfigured, in addition to thoughtful planning of fixed and flexible meeting spaces.
“The design Gensler created for us ensures our workplace expresses the enthusiastic culture of our teams, and enables movement and collaboration,” said Steve Hirai, senior director of Corporate Services at Riverbed. “We look forward to the completion of each phase meeting the needs of our expanding talent.”
The project is being implemented in three phases, and is expected to be complete in 2013.
