Grand Opening Ceremony for First Bridge Housing Community in San Jose

San Jose Mayor Liccardo Governor Newsom

Mayor Liccardo and the City Council hosted Governor Newsom yesterday at the grand opening of the City’s first bridge housing community. The Mayor and Governor discussed the implementation of this innovative approach to addressing Silicon Valley’s homelessness crisis. The new bridge housing community is located on Mabury Road in San José and includes 40 individual sleeping cabins as well as a shared kitchen and bathrooms. The facility provides interim housing and supportive services for adults who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness as they stabilize their lives, transition into permanent housing, and strive to become self-sufficient. The Mayor and Governor had the opportunity to talk with residents and hear how bridge housing has benefitted them.
