We are pleased to announce that veteran intellectual property litigator Robert W. Payne has joined the firm. His practice is focused on IP and business disputes and licensing transactions. For more than 30 years, many of which were spent in practice with the Monterey IP firm of LaRiviere, Grubman & Payne, Bob has handled complex patent infringement, trade secret, trademark, and business disputes. He serves a diverse client base, from closely held businesses to publicly traded technology companies.
Admitted to practice in four states, Bob has served in leadership positions in a number of professional organizations and often is called upon to write and speak about cutting-edge intellectual property topics to the local, state and national IP bar, the technology industry, agribusiness, and others. He currently serves as Chair of the Litigation Interest Group of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of California, and Chair of the Trademark Remedies Reform Study Group of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Bob holds a B.A. from Stanford University, J.D. from University of California, Davis, and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of London.
“We are delighted to have Bob Payne on board,” said Shella Deen, Chair of the firm’s litigation practice. “Not only is Bob a veteran IP litigator, but he also is nationally known as an intellectual property thought leader. His arrival deepens the firm’s IP and litigation bench strength, and enhances our offerings to our clients.”
Payne commented, “Hoge Fenton has a long and strong reputation in Silicon Valley in a number of practice areas, including business, litigation, and intellectual property. I am excited to move my practice to San Jose and look forward to collaborating with this collegial and talented group of lawyers.”
