Transit-Friendly Community Adds 260 New Apartments Near Caltrain and Downtown
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA (JUNE 19, 2019) – Sares Regis Group of Northern California (SRGNC) has begun leasing apartments at Cadence, a new residential community in downtown South San Francisco and adjacent to the City’s Caltrain station currently under construction. Located on just under two acres over two blocks, the 225,000-square-foot project consists of 260 high-quality apartments in two seven-story buildings. Offering rental rates starting at $3,040 per month, Cadence is one of the first new residential projects completed in South San Francisco in the last decade and one of the first to realize the City’s vision for its downtown under the Downtown Station Area Specific Plan.
The property’s residents will have easy access to Highways 101 and 380, Oyster Point shuttles, and the new, upgraded Caltrain station, scheduled to open in the fall of 2020 with upgraded connectivity to Grand Avenue and the broader downtown area. SRGNC contributed to this station renovation as a part of a $5.7M contribution that also went towards improving community parks, pedestrian connections, water lines, stormwater infrastructure, and public art. Streetscape improvements along Miller and Cypress Avenues and on Airport Boulevard include enhanced sidewalks, furniture, street trees, lighting, and bicycle accommodation.
“We’re proud to bring 260 new homes to South San Francisco, a city that’s very much in need of new housing to accommodate its growing population and its many new employees,” says Ken Busch, Senior Vice President at SRGNC. “Cadence provides housing near public transit options for the many people who work at nearby businesses and up and down the Peninsula Corridor. We hope that this significant new community provides additional vibrancy to downtown South San Francisco by increasing pedestrian traffic and providing patrons for local businesses.”
Cadence offers residents a rooftop lounge overlooking the Bay, a spacious fitness center, multiple resident lounge areas with distinctive features, and landscaped courtyards. The project is targeting LEED® Silver certification.
Designed by Thomas Cox of TCA Architects, Cadence brings together elements from South San Francisco’s manufacturing past and high-tech future. The result is an architectural design aesthetic that is thoroughly contemporary yet evokes the area’s industrial past. The project is thoughtfully designed to create a sense of community and promote connectivity between Miller Avenue and the rest of downtown.
Cadence was developed by SRGNC in partnership with the AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust.About Sares Regis Group of Northern California
