California lawmakers sent SB 868 to Gov. Gavin Newsom on Aug. 26, clearing a path for renters and multifamily owners across PG&E's Northern California territory to install small plug-in solar systems without the interconnection paperwork and installation costs that have long confined distributed power to single-family rooftops.
