San Francisco, February 4, 2016 – Colin Alley, AIA, LEED AP, has joined FME Architecture + Design (FME) as a Project Director in support of the firm’s strategic growth plan. Bringing 22 years of experience to FME, he provides strong leadership and project management for the firm’s architectural group, with an emphasis on client relations and business development.
“We are pleased to welcome Colin as our new team lead,” says Eric Ibsen, FME’s Chief Design Officer. “His expertise in a wide range of building types will broaden FME’s capabilities in terms of project types, project leadership and client stewardship.”
Formerly with BCV Architects in San Francisco, for the past 17 years Colin focused on a mix of urban design, urban infill, and adaptive reuse projects. His specialties include feasibility analysis, site planning, entitlements and city review for building projects, from single‐family homes through urban infill mixed‐use.
Some of his notable projects with BCV included Market Square (aka “The Twitter Building”), an adaptive reuse project in San Francisco, retail master‐planning consultation for the burgeoning Candlestick Point neighborhood of San Francisco, the Rose Garden/Navlet’s retail center in Danville, and master‐planning and design for several blocks in the City of Walnut Creek’s downtown pedestrian retail district.
Colin’s commitment to excellence in architectural design is well demonstrated through his many years of service to the community, and active involvement with various professional affiliations.
In 2015 he was appointed by the Marin County Board of Supervisors to the newly formed Architectural Commission, which focuses on the arbitration of sustainability and preservation concerns throughout the county. He is also an active member of both SPUR and the AIA.
Previously, he served as a Board Member and Vice President of Russian Hill Neighbors, as well as on the neighborhood association’s Design, Zoning, and Land Use Committee.
Additionally, Colin holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in New York, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a licensed architect in both California and Arizona, and a LEED‐accredited professional.
