San Francisco, CA – October 22, 2015 –Equity Residential’s highly anticipated, 40-story 340 Fremont residential community in San Francisco’s South of Market (SOMA), just celebrated its ‘Topping Out’, announced Jim Kelly, First Vice President of Development for Equity Residential. Construction on the for-lease multifamily high-rise began in April of 2014, and is on schedule to be completed in July 2016.
According to Kelly, “We’ve assembled an incredible team of local partners that has resulted in an innovative approach to high-rise urban living that is distinctively San Francisco. And with our topping out coming well ahead of schedule, we couldn’t be more pleased with the process and expertise that Suffolk Construction has brought to the project.”
“The views from 340 Fremont are absolutely incredible, and will clearly be one of the top reasons residents will be drawn to the tower,” added Kelly. Onsite amenities include a clubhouse, outdoor courtyards, barbeques, a cutting-edge fitness center, a lounge with demonstration kitchen; a dog spa; and bike facilities with a repair room.
During the course of construction, Suffolk Construction has utilized 35,575 cubic yards of concrete and 9.3 million pounds of reinforcing steel.
According to Andy Ball, President and CEO of Suffolk’s West Region, “We are honored to be working with Equity Residential on such an iconic property that will be a spectacular addition to the San Francisco skyline. This incredible project has given us the opportunity to implement some of the most innovative processes, tools and technologies that will ultimately enable us to deliver 340 Fremont faster and more cost effectively with the highest quality.”
San Francisco-based Handel Architects, LLP is handling both the exterior and interior design; Suffolk Construction is the general contractor; Cliff Lowe Associates is the landscape architect.
