CREW SF & CREW East Bay Rising Leaders Committee Cocktail Cruise of the San Francisco Skyline

August 14, 2018 @ 4:15 pm - 7:00 pm PDT

Join CREW SF and CREW East Bay Rising Leaders Committees as they co-host an afternoon aboard a Commodore Cruise private yacht to take in the sweeping views of the San Francisco skyline.  Dynamic speakers, Maia Small with the San Francisco Planning Department, and Rebecca Benassini with the Port of San Francisco, will give a presentation to those onboard regarding public/private-venture real estate development projects currently underway in the City and those coming up on the horizon. The presentation will describe urban planning initiatives and waterfront development, with an emphasis on the present and future of the changing cityscape. This event will provide abundant opportunities for networking with a variety of drink and appetizer options for members and guests to enjoy.

Maia Small is a Principal Urban Designer and Architect at the San Francisco Planning Department where she leads design review for current projects and urban design in long-range planning. Over the last five years, she has been the project manager and co-author of the San Francisco Urban Design Guidelines and the urban design lead for the Central SoMa Area Plan and the Hub Project. She was previously a partner at Thurlow Small Architecture, an architecture and urban design firm in Rhode Island. She has also taught architecture at Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Rebecca Benassini is an Assistant Deputy Director of Real Estate and Development at the Port of San Francisco, where she is responsible for the successful completion and management of large and complex public/private-venture real estate development projects. Her current projects include Pier 70, Mission Rock, Hotel Teatro Zinzanni, WETA Downtown Ferry Terminal Expansion, Fire Boat House at Pier 22 1/2, and Alcatraz Embarkation. She brings expertise in the broad array of funding sources and financing mechanisms needed to develop these complex projects. Prior to joining the Port, she was a consultant at an urban economics firm for more than 10 years. She is active in her community, having been elected to the El Cerrito City Council after service on the City’s Economic Development Board and Environmental Quality Commission.

We hope you can join this outstanding event for a unique learning experience and networking opportunity.
