As we move into fall 2024, the changing season has inspired a wave of home design trends on TikTok, with candles emerging as the season’s most popular feature. According to a new study by Cinch Home Services, candles top the list of home décor favorites with over two million posts on TikTok, highlighting a trend that brings warmth and coziness into homes as the weather cools. The study analyzed data from TikTok’s creative center to discover the hottest home design trends for the season, revealing that autumnal aesthetics are front and center.

Candles Take the Lead

Candles have long been a go-to for creating ambiance, but their popularity in fall 2024 has skyrocketed, thanks to TikTok’s creative community. Whether for their inviting fragrances, soft glow, or stylish holders, candles have earned their place as the ultimate fall home décor accessory. They not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of living spaces but also complement the earthy tones and textures that dominate autumn color schemes.

Bouquets Bring Nature Indoors

Following closely behind candles are bouquets, amassing over one million posts on TikTok. Bouquets featuring deep reds, oranges, and browns are in high demand, capturing the essence of the season. When paired with eye-catching vases, these floral arrangements become standout pieces in home décor, adding vibrancy and a touch of nature to living spaces.

The Modern Aesthetic Maintains its Appeal

Minimalism continues to be a dominant force in home design, with the modern aesthetic claiming third place in the ranking with 780,000 posts. This trend emphasizes clean lines, functionality, and decluttered spaces. While TikTok users debate between modern and contemporary design, minimalism appears to be the preferred choice for fall, offering a refreshing contrast to more ornate seasonal décor.

Other Trending Design Elements

Beyond candles, bouquets, and modern design, other trends making waves on TikTok include:

PlantTok: With 579,000 posts, plants remain a popular choice for adding a natural touch to interiors. Indoor plants not only enhance the aesthetic of a room but also improve air quality, making them a staple of home décor in 2024.

Blankets: The fifth most popular trend, with 397,000 posts, highlights the importance of cozy textures as the weather cools. Faux fur and weighted blankets in warm, autumnal hues are favorites this season.

Luxury Living: Minimalism meets opulence with the ‘Luxury Living’ trend, which has 388,000 posts. This trend focuses on sleek, high-end furniture and décor elements, such as marble coffee tables and statement mirrors.

DIY Arts and Crafts: As Halloween approaches, TikTok users are turning to DIY projects to personalize their spaces. With over 313,000 posts, arts and crafts are all the rage, from creating custom wreaths to designing pumpkin-themed décor.

The Role of Social Media in Home Design

Cinch Home Services’ spokesperson commented on the study, noting how TikTok has transformed the way people approach home design:

“Fall home design trends on TikTok are all about creating cozy and inviting spaces that reflect the warmth and comfort of the season. We’re seeing many individuals incorporate rich and earthy tones into their homes’ color schemes via bouquets, blankets, and candle holders.”

This seasonal shift is also a reminder to be mindful of sustainability, with experts encouraging DIY projects over purchasing throwaway seasonal items.

As we step into fall 2024, it’s clear that TikTok has become a driving force in shaping home design trends, with cozy and nature-inspired elements taking center stage. Whether it’s the glow of candles or the warmth of blankets, this season’s home décor trends invite us to create spaces that celebrate the beauty of autumn.
