Oakland, Calif., August 15, 2017 – Colliers International is very pleased to welcome Gregory Hunter to its Oakland office. Prior to his brokerage career, Mr. Hunter worked for 16 years in development and planning for the City of Oakland. Drawing on his experience in multiple categories of real estate and development, Mr. Hunter’s brokerage practice serves the leasing and sales needs of office, retail, and industrial clients in Oakland and the larger East Bay.
As Director for the City of Oakland Redevelopment Agency, Mr. Hunter directed many of the public and privately funded projects that helped shape Oakland into the town that is celebrated today. His expansion of the city’s Façade and Tenant Improvement Programs was integral to attracting ground floor tenants to more than 250,000 SF of vacant space along Oakland’s commercial corridors. In addition, he succeeded in improving grocery presence in some of Oakland’s most problematic food deserts, and served a pivotal role in the development of more than 100,000 SF of newly constructed retail.
“We are very pleased to have Gregory on our Colliers team. Gregory’s deep understanding of both the public and private sector provides tremendous value to the investors, landlords and tenants he represents,” commented Ken Meyersieck, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Colliers International Oakland office. Mr. Hunter added, “I have a great fondness for the city of Oakland and the larger East Bay region, and hope to continue to enhance its value for owners, tenants, and other citizens.”
Mr. Hunter graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a BS in Geography and Urban Planning. He completed a Master’s in Public Administration from Baruch College, City University of New York. Most recently prior to Colliers, Mr. Hunter worked for Cushman and Wakefield in Oakland. Outside of work, Mr. Hunter serves as board member for the Alameda County Salvation Army Advisory Board.
