The 42-Acre Mixed-Use, Transit Oriented Development is part of a pilot certification program developed to integrate the principles of smart growth, new urbanism and green building into the first national system for neighborhood design.
(Hercules, CA – October 17, 2012) – Completion of Hercules Bayfront, the final phase of the greater Central Hercules Plan, will bring about a true neighborhood of the future. Working via guidelines established by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Hercules Bayfront will deliver on the promise of a vibrant, transit oriented, waterfront downtown district, steeped in the values of smart growth, new urbanism and green building.
Once completed according to plan, Hercules Bayfront will be eligible for Stage 3 LEED Gold Neighborhood status, one of the nation’s pioneering new developments to receive this prestigious designation. For nearly a decade, development partners Anderson Pacific, LLC and Oso Trabuco, LLC have worked collaboratively with the community to bring their shared vision of a new walkable, waterfront downtown Hercules to reality.
After last month’s construction announcement, which is slated to begin in 3rd quarter 2013, this achievement validates the steadfast determination of the community and development team to see the project through to completion, and have it embody industry leading sustainable principles and practices.
Located half way between San Francisco and Napa Valley, just 15 minutes north of Berkeley, Hercules Bayfront will ultimately consist of two distinct, multi-family residential communities along the shores of San Pablo Bay that are connected by a central, mixed-use downtown retail district that incorporates additional housing, street-front retail and commercial office, all accessing the City’s under construction Intermodal Transit Center connecting Hercules to the Greater Bay Area via bus, train and ferry service.
