Veterans Add Brokerage Expertise to Expanding Office in One of Nation’s Hottest Office Markets
(January 10, 2013 – SAN FRANCISCO) – Transwestern today announced that two commercial real estate veterans, Janet Burch and Markus Shayeb, have joined its expanding San Francisco office. Burch has been named vice president, specializing in the marketing and leasing of office property on behalf of institutional, corporate and private real estate owners. Burch has more than 25 years of U.S. and international commercial real estate experience, and most recently spent the past seven years in Asia Pacific.
In a related move, Transwestern also announced the appointment of Shayeb as senior vice president with the firm’s Tenant Advisory Services group. Shayeb will focus on representing corporate tenants in real estate transactions throughout the Bay Area.
“We are very excited to have Janet and Markus join our San Francisco team,” said George Garfield, President of Transwestern’s West Region. “With Janet’s strong relationships around the Pacific Rim and solid background in agency leasing, and Markus’ innovative approach to tenant advisory, the level of service these two industry experts bring to Transwestern and our clients is exceptional. We consider this one of the hottest office markets in the country and a place where we will continue to expand our brokerage practice to serve both existing and future clients.”
With nearly 25 years in the commercial real estate industry, Shayeb has vast experience in representing tenants in complex transactions, ranging from the restructuring of leases to the management of multi-market real estate portfolios and strategic real estate planning.
Prior to joining Transwestern, Shayeb successfully launched real estate consulting firm Square Four Real Estate, Inc. in San Francisco, where he developed and oversaw its tenant representation platform. Previously, Shayeb was president of HC&M Commercial’s office division in San Francisco where he also served as partner. Shayeb has also worked as managing director for Studley’s San Francisco office and senior vice president for BT Commercial’s office leasing division.
Prior to joining Transwestern, Burch served as director of business development for Cushman & Wakefield’s Asia Pacific operations, leading a number of global initiatives and heading a client relationship management program. Previously, she served as the first foreign member at Sanko Estate Company, a leading commercial real estate company in Tokyo. Throughout the course of her career in the U.S., Burch has focused on agency leasing and represented premier landmark buildings in markets including Chicago, Detroit and San Francisco totaling over ten million square feet.
The pair of appointments to Transwestern’s San Francisco team follows the firm’s ongoing, significant expansion in the San Francisco Bay area. This includes the addition of 17 new team members in the East San Francisco Bay Area, and the announcement that David Ford joined Transwestern to head up the company’s extensive and growing property management team based in San Francisco.
