As companies across Silicon Valley have been dropping office space, an affiliate of John Deere bought an 83,590 square foot office building in Santa Clara for $85 million, or about $1,016 per square foot, according to public records reviewed by The Registry. The affiliate, Blue River Technology, bought the property at 3303 Scott Blvd. from an entity affiliated with Toeniskoetter Development, which developed the building in 2015. Sale documents were filed on Oct. 28.

The four-story LEED-certified building includes a 5,000-square-foot outdoor plaza, 14 electric vehicle charging stations and a retail center, according to marketing information from Cushman & Wakefield. That information also shows that the ground level includes a parking garage and lower lobby, and each of the three floors above are approximately 27,000 square feet. Nearby amenities include a Caltrain Shuttle stop within one block as well as a Whole Foods Market and the Santa Clara Square Marketplace, according to Google Maps.

Blue River Technology was founded in 2011 as a robotics and computer company dedicated to using technology to make farming more sustainable, according to the firm’s website. It was acquired by John Deere in 2017 and is headquartered in Sunnyvale.

The building formerly housed Seres, which was previously known as SF Motors, a “user centralized E-Powertrain technology development and manufacturing company,” according to its website. Earlier this year, the firm announced that starting from Aug. 1, its headquarters would move from Santa Clara to Milpitas.

Other office activity in Santa Clara includes the revitalization of Great America Commons, a Fitwel-certified 630,000 square foot Class A office project located in Santa Clara near Levi’s Stadium, according to previous reporting from The Registry. Great America Commons consists of two six-story Class A buildings located at 4555 – 4655 Great America Pkwy, between US 101 and SR 237.

In September, San Francisco-based Airbnb also announced that it would be subleasing approximately 300,000 square feet of space in Santa Clara’s Great American Corporate Center located at 4301-4401 Great America Pkwy. Airbnb announced that it would be leasing the space earlier this year.
