Kaiser has expanded its behavior science operation in the San Francisco Bay Area with its lease for 35,449 square feet in a medical office building in Fremont located at 39350 Civic Center Drive.
The property is owned by an an entity associated with John Mazoros of Pleasanton, according to public records. It was represented in the lease by the Walnut Creek office of Transwestern. Involved in the transaction were Tyler Brown and Michael Torres, both vice presidents, and Ed Del Beccaro, senior managing director.
“This was a great expansion opportunity for Kaiser, and logistically it made sense. Other competing providers had also looked at the space, “ says Brown.
Many healthcare companies are looking at buildings to occupy in Fremont. “Healthcare providers see Fremont as an epicenter for many aspects of healthcare and the demand for a large footprint of space is significant. The growth for healthcare will continue throughout the region,” says Torres.
The tenant was represented in the lease by the Menlo Park office of JLL. The people involved in the transaction were Scott Mathisen, managing director, and Hilary Barte, associate.
The lease by Kaiser will cover around 47 percent of the building’s 74,791 square feet. The hospital system’s choice for this location could have been partially driven by the building’s proximity to its own as well as other medical facilities in the region. Washington Hospital and Kaiser occupy other office buildings in the neighborhood.
