Public Market’s owner TMG Partners sees momentum build as HOT ITALIAN joins recently opened Guitar Center in the increasingly destination-oriented complex
San Francisco, March 26, 2012 – TMG Partners and Rockwood Capital, owners of Public Market Emeryville, are pleased to announce the opening of HOT ITALIAN pizza and panini bar in the multi-use complex located at 5959 Shellmound Street. After its successful first location in Sacramento, HOT ITALIAN opens its second restaurant in Emeryville as part of TMG’s broader renovation of the 14-acre Public Market complex into an environmentally sustainable, pedestrian-oriented neighborhood.
Combining Italy’s food and arts culture with an urban California sensibility, the popular pizza bar HOT ITALIAN adds a high-concept, yet casual dining experience to the Public Market’s offerings. HOT ITALIAN, along with newly opened Guitar Center and forthcoming Urban Outfitters, will anchor Public Market, which has become known for its international food court of 20 independent, local food proprietors.
“TMG is thrilled to bring such a unique and winning restaurant as HOT ITALIAN to Public Market Emeryville,” says TMG Partner Denise Pinkston. “Office workers and the local community have known about the gem that is Public Market for years. With TMG’s renovation here attracting exciting businesses such as HOT ITALIAN, Public Market Emeryville is becoming a real destination for families, for the creative class, for foodies and for anyone who enjoys a diverse Bay Area experience.”
“When we were searching for a location, my business partner Fabrizio and I wanted a unique place that could offer the same New Urbanist principles we have at our Midtown location in California’s Capital City,” says HOT ITALIAN founder and creative director Andrea Lepore. “Walkability, mixed-use and diversity, connectivity, quality architecture and urban design, high-density, bicycle and scooter parking – the Public Market community offered all these elements.”
Public Market Emeryville was the first project in the country to achieve Platinum designation from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) rating system. It was also awarded a California Catalyst gold level grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development. According to TMG, the firm remains committed to environmentally sustainable design and practices for its continuing transformation of the14-acre mixed-use complex. Future plans include electric vehicle charging stations, solar carports, high bicycle parking ratios, storm water planters and more.
