“As we continue to attract talented individuals to join our Northern California practice, it gives me great pleasure to welcome a colleague that I have known and respected for many years,” said Robert Bagguley, Transwestern executive managing director and Northern California market leader. “Richard brings a unique blend of investment sales and development experience, further enhancing Transwestern’s ability to serve our clients and craft creative solutions for their real estate needs.”

With 29 years of commercial real estate experience in the London and San Francisco Bay Area markets, Johnson has an established track record of land assemblage, securing entitlements and brokerage of major office and multifamily projects.

Prior to joining Transwestern, Johnson served as managing director for a San Francisco-based private investment and development company. During his tenure, he was responsible for assembling and managing several major San Francisco development projects, the most significant of which was the First and Mission project, a 915-foot tall, 2 million-square-foot, mixed-use development at the epicenter of the Transbay Center District Plan. Johnson also worked on the notable One Oak at Market and Van Ness, a 435-foot tall, 308-unit condominium tower.

Johnson received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The University of Manchester in England. He began his career in London before relocating to San Francisco in 1991 to work for a firm that later merged with Grubb & Ellis Co., where he remained as senior vice president until 2007.
