Top-rated San Francisco purveyor expands to transit-oriented mixed-use village in San Mateo
San Mateo, CA – April 17, 2017 – The wait for pasture-to-plate burgers in Silicon Valley will soon be over. Roam Artisan Burgers has signed a lease to bring its carefully crafted, customizable, and sustainably-sourced fare to Bay Meadows in San Mateo. Joining a growing lineup of unique retail tenants that includes Blue Bottle Coffee, Fieldwork Brewing Company, Tin Pot Creamery and LIFT Fitness, Roam will be located in the Town Square of the mixed-use village.

We can’t wait to bring our delicious food to the Peninsula.”
With a menu featuring grass-fed, free-range and all-natural meats, house-made veggie burgers, artisan toppings, organic shakes, hand-crafted sodas and local beer and wine, Roam has earned a cult-like following. Its burgers have been ranked among the best by such outlets as Zagat and Bon Appetit. Expanding from its three current locations in San Francisco and the East Bay, Roam at Bay Meadows will occupy 1,840 square feet on the ground floor of The Russell apartment building in Bay Meadows’ Town Square.
Roam is targeting a mid-fall opening date. Matt Holmes and AJ Schrader of Retail West represented Bay Meadows in the deal. Roam was represented by Joe Kuvetakis of John Cumberlich and Associates.

Blue Bottle Coffee, Tin Pot Creamery and Fieldwork Brewing’s beer garden all aim to open this summer, with LIFT Fitness and Roam Burgers opening in the fall. The neighborhood’s retail is situated in a mix of traditional street-front spaces and pocket parks, which include a ping-pong park, porch swings and other leisure activities. Also overlooking the Town Square are SurveyMonkey’s new headquarters and Bay Meadows Station 3, which will be partially occupied by OpenText this fall. The Russell and Quimby, two recently-completed luxury apartment buildings, are over 50% leased after move-ins commenced just over a month ago. Shea Homes is currently selling the final townhomes to be constructed as part of the village.
The pioneering transit-oriented Bay Meadows development is sixty-five percent complete, with over 1,600 residents in townhomes and apartments, the Nueva School serving 400 high school students, several companies innovating in state-of-the-art offices, gardeners sharing in the community garden, visitors enjoying public art and neighbors regularly utilizing Bay Meadows’ 18 acres of parks and open space.
