SAN FRANCISCO (June 29, 2021) – Andrew Casperson, Senior Vice President of Operations of the hotel currently known as the Park Central Hotel, has announced that the hotel will undergo an extensive, $50-million-dollar redevelopment and rebranding and emerge as the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa, offering guests a cultured, sophisticated and dynamic San Francisco hospitality experience.
The comprehensive redevelopment, slated to be completed by the end of 2021, will include the addition of a lively and exciting lobby bar and innovative grab-and-go marketplace, room refurbishments and upgrades, five new guest rooms, an upgraded 3,200 square foot fitness studio outfitted with state-of-the-art gym equipment and Peloton bikes, and redesigned meeting and event spaces named after prominent local artists, all marked by contemporary décor and an art-driven narrative envisioned by internationally recognized design
“We’re thrilled to publicly announce plans for the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa, Hyatt’s first luxury hotel South of Market,” said Casperson. “Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa will be a refreshing, energizing, multifunctional hotel centrally located in the arts-centric SoMa district, offering guests thoughtful amenities, well-appointed accommodations, smart design features, culinary delights and memorable experiential packages and programming.”
Additionally, the hotel will add a new Regency Club – an elevated experience tailored to meet the needs and expectations of global travelers – located on the hotel’s ground floor. This exquisite private club will be open 24 hours a day and feature amenities that include locally inspired food and beverage offerings, evening drinks and hors d’oeuvres service, and a dedicated host to provide any assistance required.
Park Central currently offers 681 contemporary and oversized guestrooms and suites, including a variety of City View and Bay View rooms, 20 Executive Corner suites and two Presidential Suites. The hotel has some of the most expansive views of the city and the Bay, providing guests with a signature San Francisco experience the moment they check-in. When the expansion is completed, the hotel’s refurbished and upgraded guestrooms will increase to 686. The smart, residential design of the rooms combined with refined décor and abundant natural light conveys the feeling of the ultimate urban retreat. Large, brightly lit bathrooms provide generous counter space, walk-in showers and San Francisco-based Pharmacopia luxury bath and body products.
Located at 50 Third Street in the popular SoMa district, walking distance from the city’s world-renowned museums such as SFMOMA, the Asian Art Museum, MOAD and the Contemporary Jewish Museum, Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa will celebrate the local arts community by displaying unique pieces in the hotel’s public gathering spaces and by naming meeting and event spaces in honor of celebrated Bay Area artists. With almost 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including 16 function rooms, two ballrooms and several breakout rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, the hotel can host larger conferences and events than many other properties, contributing to San Francisco’s re-emergence as a convention destination.
Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa is managed by Highgate Hotels, internationally recognized as the premier hotel operator in gateway markets. Owned by Morgan Stanley, Highgate manages a significant portfolio of hotels in the U.S., Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
