Expansion comes on heels of strong Bishop Ranch leasing activity in 2019 of nearly 1 million square feet of renewals and new leases
San Ramon, Calif. – January 27, 2020 – Sunset Development Company today announced that SAP (NYSE: SAP), an international market leader in enterprise application software, has expanded its lease at 2600 Camino Ramon in Bishop Ranch. Sunset officials said that demand for space was strong in 2019 — in which new and renewal activity totaled nearly 1 million square feet.
SAP leased an additional 90,000 square feet, bringing its total workspace at the iconic 2600 campus to nearly 235,000 square feet. SAP initially began relocating its regional offices to Bishop Ranch in 2015; the expanded lease represents the company’s ongoing consolidation of some of its offices from elsewhere in the Bay Area to the East Bay.
“SAP’s expansion is an example of the steady growth at Bishop Ranch by tenants both large and small,” said Alexander Mehran Jr., president and chief executive officer of Sunset Development Company. “We’re honored that SAP continues to find value in Bishop Ranch’s work and lifestyle environment, and that we’re able to provide them with the additional space they need and the flexibility to grow.”
Dwain Christensen, Director, Global Real Estate and Facilities, SAP said: “Bishop Ranch offers our team the best of both worlds — a nationally admired place to work, located in one of America’s most livable cities. Bishop Ranch’s extraordinary amenities and nearby transit options foster a healthy work-life balance for our employees, while the city of San Ramon gives them access to outstanding neighborhoods, schools, restaurants, stores, parks and trails.” As a result of the expanded lease, more than 700 SAP employees will work at Bishop Ranch in the company’s open and highly collaborative workspace.
SAP’s corporate neighbors at Bishop Ranch include AT&T, Bank of the West, 24 Hour Fitness, Paychex, FedEx, Sprint and Armanino – one of the largest accounting firms in California. The diverse mix of world-class companies in Bishop Ranch offers a full-service business community unlike any other throughout the region.“With SAP’s expanded lease, the 2600 campus is at 94 percent occupancy, underscoring the demand for high-quality workspace in the East Bay,” Mehran added. Mehran said 2019’s leasing activity at Bishop Ranch offers proof of the East Bay’s growing reputation as an outstanding place to do business. New and expanded leases signed last year included WeWork, which signed a lease for 86,000 square feet at 2600 Camino Ramon, and Striking Distance Studios, an industry-leading game development studio created by PUBG Corporation, which leased 25,000 square feet at BR 1 for its new headquarters. Both companies are expected to open new workspaces in Q1.
2600 is at the heart of Bishop Ranch, comprised of four interconnected buildings on a park-like 100-acre campus, 1.8 million square feet of office space and recently received the coveted LEED® Gold certification. In addition to the buildings’ green credentials, the spaces throughout have been designed to foster the creativity and innovation that drive a successful business.
2600 is owned by Sunset Development and its partner MetLife.
