Sares Regis Group Residential Team Announces Promotions and New Hire


SAN MATEO, CA – APRIL 15, 2020 – The Residential Division of Sares Regis Group of Northern California (SRGNC) has announced three promotions and a new hire. Jeff Smith and Ken Busch have both been named Director, Residential Development, Travis Duncan has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, and Sarah Murphy has joined the team as Marketing Manager.

Jeff Smith has 27 years of real estate development and construction experience in Northern California. For 22 years, Smith has overseen all phases of residential projects at SRGNC, including entitlement, design, construction oversight, and leasing or sales. Major projects Smith has led include The Ashton in Belmont, Encore in Redwood City, The Plaza in Foster City, Township in Redwood City, and Colonnade in Los Altos. His development experience at SRGNC includes 19 communities; comprising just under 2,000 homes; and valued at over $1.2B.

Ken Busch has over 30 years of experience in real estate. Busch joined SRGNC in 2002 and manages the development of residential communities through due diligence, entitlements, design, financing, construction, leasing and sell out. Recent projects include the award-winning Cadence in South San Francisco, Aperture in San Bruno, 888 San Mateo, 6TenEast in Sunnyvale, and Altaire in Palo Alto. Busch’s experience includes over 4,000 units with a retail value of over $1.7B.


Travis Duncan joined SRGNC in 2017 as Development Project Manager after completing his M.B.A. at Stanford University, and has since led all aspects of development for residential projects, including project entitlements; political, community and stakeholder outreach; and design development and permitting. He has recently been focused on the development of a number of residential projects at CityLine in Downtown Sunnyvale, an emerging master-planned, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use district. Duncan also helped to spearhead the installation and operation of a community ice rink for the holiday season in Downtown Sunnyvale. In addition to an M.B.A, he also holds a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Design and Construction Management from Stanford and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University. 


As Residential Marketing Manager, Sarah Murphy joins SRGNC with a background in sales and marketing and extensive experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She holds an M.B.A in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. in Political Science and Art History from Amherst College.
