San Ramon, Calif. – (August 28, 2019) — The community is invited to an open house featuring a first look at Sunset Development Company’s plans for long-envisioned residential neighborhoods in Bishop Ranch, and their key role in realizing San Ramon’s decades-long quest for a thriving city center.
The open house will take place on September 26 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 2600 Camino Ramon. The residential neighborhood plans will be brought to life through a series of renderings, and Sunset Development Company representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the planned residential neighborhoods and their community-wide benefits. Those benefits include:
- How the plan will create a thriving live-work, transit-oriented, pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly destination in San Ramon’s core, fulfilling the promise of a vibrant, engaging city center
- Improved traffic circulation that will result from placing much-needed housing near Bishop Ranch’s thousands of jobs
- Creation of a beautiful parkway system that will connect the residential neighborhoods
- Expansion of and enhanced access to San Ramon’s popular bicycle network and pedestrian/hiking trails, including Iron Horse Regional Trail
- The inclusion of workforce and affordable housing that will enable San Ramon to do its part in addressing California’s severe housing shortage, while at the same time satisfying newly enacted state mandates for cities to increase their supplies of such housing.
The plan for the 25-year build-out includes five distinct neighborhoods, which will ultimately include approximately 4,500 multifamily homes and bring 170,000 square feet of new retail space to Bishop Ranch.
The planned residential neighborhoods are being designed to complement Bishop Ranch’s existing buildings and their landscaped settings, and to seamlessly integrate with the popular lake, pedestrian pathways and landscaped perimeter along the major boulevards.
New parks, gardens and lush landscaping will give each neighborhood its own unique identity and outdoor amenities Yet all are interconnected in ways that foster sociability among residents.
“We’re excited to share these plans for residential neighborhoods with the families and businesses of San Ramon. Bishop Ranch isn’t just a project, it’s a community, and we’re proud to work with the City and residents in realizing the vision for a true city center for San Ramon,” said Alexander Mehran, Jr., president and chief executive officer, Sunset Development Company.
“By working collaboratively with the City, Sunset is committed to helping ensure that San Ramon controls its own destiny and matures in a way that honors its long history of thoughtful growth and strong leadership.”
