Taylor Design Appoints Edmund M. Einy, FAIA as Director of Architecture

The addition of distinguished architect Edmund M. Einy in this key role strategically positions Taylor Design for further growth.

Irvine, CA — Honored architect Edmund M. Einy, FAIA has joined Taylor Design, a solutions-oriented architecture, environments and strategies firm. Serving as firm-wide Director of Architecture based in the company’s Irvine office, Einy brings more than three decades of design and leadership experience creating forward-thinking structures and collaborative partnerships in healthcare, academic, government and commercial industries.

In this role at Taylor Design, Einy provides a single point of leadership to direct the firm’s vision for its architecture portfolio focused on healthcare, academic and science and technology markets. Working in tandem with Lance Carlson, Director of Strategies and Erica Steenstra, Director of Environments, Einy completes the leadership team for the firm’s three practice areas.

Formerly Principal / Director of Design at gkkworks Architects in Pasadena, Einy has held several senior-level design and leadership positions at architecture firms in Southern California. Throughout his career, he has served as a trusted partner to such high-profile clients as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Metropolitan Water District, University of California, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Superior Court, and a variety of community colleges in the state, among others. His notable body of work has garnered more than 35 regional and national AIA design awards.

With a strong social purpose and creative drive, Einy says the buildings he designs represent the values of the people who occupy them, the institutions they symbolize and the communities of which they become a part. Committed to the design of socially responsible buildings, Einy co-lead the Sustainability Leadership and AIA + 2030 committee for the purpose of training architects to significantly reduce the energy use of their buildings.

Committed to passing along his knowledge and high-standards to the next generation of architects, Einy served as an instructor at the University of Southern California (USC) and the Southern California Institute of Architecture. He is also a visiting critic at UCLA, USC, Cal Poly Pomona, California College of the Arts, Southern California Institute of Architecture and Pasadena City College. Einy’s additional industry involvement includes serving as a juror for various architecture award competitions, chairman and committee member for ten years on the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Los Angeles design awards, and a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the AIA Los Angeles from 2004-2008.

In recognition of his contributions to architecture and society, Einy was elevated to the prestigious College of Fellows by the National Chapter of the AIA in 2010 and was named a representative of the AIA/LA 100 Years / 100 Los Angeles Architects in 1995.

A Licensed Architect in California, Einy holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelors of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture.
