Oakland, Calif. – TCA Architects (TCA), a full service architecture firm noted as a leader in the development of progressive multifamily and mixed-use urban residential designs, has named the first senior staff hires for its new Bay Area design studio, announced Aram Chahbazian, TCA’s President and a managing principal of the firm.
“TCA’s decision to open a dedicated Bay Area studio directly reflected our current workload in the region, but also set in motion many of our firm’s long-term growth plans,” said Chahbazian. “We are in the process of hiring a full roster of professionals to join TCA at our new studio, and begin work not just on existing projects in the region requiring immediate oversight, but also work on a growing number of new and future commissions throughout the Bay Area.”
The new hires will join Thomas “Thom” Cox, who is TCA’s founding principal, Chief Executive and managing principal of the Bay Area studio, in establishing the firm’s Bay Area operations. The growing Bay Area team works from TCA’s new studio offices at the 1111 Broadway office tower in Oakland City Center, which opened its doors at the beginning of the year.
“We are beginning to settle into our new studio here in Oakland,” said Cox. “That process includes hiring the first two senior professionals working from our Bay Area studio, and we will continue to expand this team with more highly-qualified candidates in the months to come. We expect to have a staff of 10 or more working from the studio by year end, and further expect that number to grow as we move into 2014 and beyond.”
Background on the recent hires includes:
Jonathan Cohen, FAIA and LEED AP, joins TCA Architects as a Studio Director from his most recent position with Brookwood Group, where he managed due diligence, design, entitlements and preconstruction services for the 2 million-square-foot, 8-block corporate campus for Salesforce.com at Mission Bay in San Francisco.
