San Francisco, California – February 21, 2017 – On December 1, 2016, property owner SingHaiyi Group / Ocean Landing, LLC in collaboration with Woods Bagot received unanimous city planning approval to proceed with a new five building residential complex as part of the upcoming ‘Executive Park Special Use District’ development.

Situated on a 4.8-acre parcel at the old site of Candlestick Park overlooking the San Francisco Bay, the new residential project at Thomas Mellon Circle will offer a vibrant, compact, and well-served community to nearly 600 residential units. The project was originally zoned for 500 units, however the team sought approval to add an extra 85 units to the scope. Thomas Mellon Waterfront Residences is the largest city planning approved project in San Francisco by Woods Bagot and will be key in transforming the area into a desirable new community.

“The new residences at Thomas Mellon will be a transformational addition to the Executive Park Special Use District,” said Woods Bagot Lead Designer Terry Meurk. “Through working with materiality and street frontage design, our goal was to create a neighborhood and community atmosphere that everyone can be proud of.”

As this is a major project for the city of San Francisco, Woods Bagot and the rest of the development team conducted several formal and informal meetings with neighbors, the Planning Department, City Officials including District Supervisor Malia Cohen and the Mayor’s Office, and the Planning Commission to ensure everyone understood the proposal and answer any questions.

Appearing before the Planning Commission, the developer team presentation kicked off with an intro from the former land owner, George Yerby. Despite selling the land back in 2014, George, who was a personal friend of Thomas Mellon, stayed heavily involved in obtaining this second round of approval.

The project received unanimous approval (6-0) to move forward with the understanding that there was a 30-day period for anyone to come forward with objections. As of early January 2017, the development team received written approval confirmation from the Planning Department.
