Firm’s Pioneering Property Aggregation Strategy and Record $815 Million Financing Net Top U.S. Honors in New York Ceremony

SAN FRANCISCO/NEW YORK (Feb 27, 2017) – Veritas Investments, a privately owned real estate firm based in San Francisco, was named Fund of the Year-Innovation by Real Estate Finance & Investments (REFI) in recent ceremonies held in New York.

The annual awards program, which recognizes “exceptional performance and innovation over the past 12 months”, cited Veritas’ record institutional financing of $815 million in 2016 as a capstone to its innovative property aggregation strategy.

“The REFI national award is a great testament to Veritas’ entire team, and recognizes our early insights into creating an entirely new institutional investment asset class,” said CEO Yat-Pang Au. “San Francisco apartment assets had largely been unavailable to private equity, pension and other large investors, and we’re excited about bringing our investment platform enhanced by our people, culture, and technology to new markets going forward.”

Utilizing a strategy of acquiring assets at high concentration and scale, Veritas Investments buys mid-sized, classic properties that have been traditionally too small for large investors, applying its technology-infused and vertically-integrated team to acquire, manage, lease, reposition and renovate them into portfolios appealing to institutional investors. An example of Veritas’ largest and most active partners is Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, whose $250 billion in assets makes it one of the largest pension funds in North America.
