AEI Responds to Increased Demand for HUD-Related Services; Announces Addition of 2 Experts

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., (February 26, 2018) – AEI Consultants, a leading commercial real estate assessment and consulting firm, has announced the expansion of its commercial real estate HUD-related service offerings, bolstered by the addition of two veterans in the field of HUD-dedicated assessments and consulting.

As one of its services, AEI provides third-party due diligence, environmental assessment, property condition needs assessment, and construction risk management for HUD-insured commercial real estate projects throughout the country. The firm has recently created a dedicated HUD Services Group, to address the increased client demand for these services.

Jeb Bonnett has been appointed as Director of Building Assessments – HUD

The group provides HUD-related multifamily and healthcare investigation, due diligence, capital needs assessments, environmental site assessments, architectural and cost reviews, energy auditing and certifications for lenders, public housing authorities, and equity investors, according to Holly Neber, CEO of AEI Consultants.

“Conventional loans are becoming increasingly difficult to secure, and the Multifamily Accelerated Processing (MAP) Guide was revised in 2016 with the intention of increasing the speed of loan applications, which places pressure on multifamily buyers and lenders alike,” explains Neber. “Based on these industry trends, we recognized the need to expand our existing HUD-related service offerings, offering more clients direct access to our firm’s trusted counsel and creative solutions.”

Under Vice President Douglas Olson, who provides executive leadership for all HUD services and programs, the firm has added Staige Miller as Director of Environmental Services – HUD, and Jeb Bonnett as Director of Building Assessments – HUD.

Miller and Bonnett will also work closely with Glenn Adams, Director – Energy Services, Scott Cameron, Director – Construction Risk Management, and Peter F. Millar, Executive Vice President – Building Assessments.

“While AEI has long provided assessment and consulting services related to HUD lending regulations for multifamily and healthcare properties, with constantly changing regulations, as well as uncertainty based on additional proposed HUD budget changes, we are now deepening our in-house expertise,” says Neber. “This expansion ensures we can quickly deliver this required expertise to meet the increased industry demand for our services.”

Miller joins AEI after 17 years as Director of Environmental Services with Dominion Due Diligence Group. Miller is a regular panelist on environment issues, in particular HEROS, at HUD Lender attended conferences. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and planning and political science from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Bonnett joins AEI following 12 years as a Business Project Manager at Dominion Due Diligence Group. Bonnett is regularly engaged by HUD Lenders to provide guidance and training on the e-tool. He is often referred to as the ‘e-tool expert.’ He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from James Madison University.
