Balfour Beatty Construction Expands David Christensen’s Role to Include Education Business Unit Leader in California

OAKLAND, Calif. – October 14, 2016 – Balfour Beatty Construction announces that David J. Christensen, vice president of operations in Northern California, has been named education business unit leader for the company’s California Division. In addition to overseeing the successful delivery of all projects managed out of the company’s Oakland office, his role has been expanded to lead Balfour Beatty’s work serving the growing school construction market in the Bay area, supported by the passage of recent school construction bond measures.

Christensen joined Balfour Beatty in 2011 as vice president of operations in Southern California. He brings over three decades of industry experience, which includes starting his career at age 13 as a carpenter for his father’s framing company. Christensen subsequently worked his way up to president of the company, leading it for nine years after graduating college. His area of expertise is helping project teams navigate complex challenges, while identifying potential risks that could impact a project’s outcome. Christensen’s’ portfolio of experience features a wide variety of market sectors including public, education, federal, hospitality, healthcare and commercial office.

Christensen holds a B.S. in civil engineering from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a licensed General Contractor.
