Cohen Financial Unveils Enhanced Third-Party Advisory Services; Names Kevin L. Miller To Lead Practice

Chicago (May 2, 2012)  – Cohen Financial, a national real estate capital services firm, today announced that it has expanded its commercial real estate (CRE) capital advisory and valuation services and has appointed Kevin L. Miller as Managing Director to lead the practice.  Expanding its current third-party service offerings, Cohen Financial will provide a number of sophisticated due diligence and advisory services.  These services are specifically targeted to financial institutions and investment banking advisors focused on CRE portfolio loan sales, community bank mergers and acquisitions, as well as recapitalizations.

Cohen Financial currently provides full, in-depth CRE loan reviews and bank portfolio loss projections, mark-to-market estimates, overall commercial real estate due diligence and CRE portfolio acquisition evaluations.  The company enhanced its advisory services by adding multi-tiered loan portfolio reviews, analysis and evaluations based on portfolio stratifications and risk, as well as stress testing for financial institutions and advisors.   Going forward, Cohen Financial expects to offer third-party underwriting for CMBS and other CRE debt offerings and B-piece due diligence.   To date, Cohen Financial has participated in more than 50 loan portfolio advisory assignments since 2009.

Prior to joining Cohen Financial in March 2012, Mr. Miller led or co-led diligence efforts for more than 20 national and international bank mergers, recapitalizations and note sales/acquisitions while with Aperio Advisors and The Situs Companies.  Mr. Miller was instrumental in developing the methodologies and modules used by each of these companies in evaluating bank loan portfolios. Further, he was named to the Real Estate Forums’ 40 under 40 in Commercial Real Estate in October 2010.

Mr. Miller holds a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and has more than 15 years of commercial real estate and banking experience.  He also served as a Capital Advisor within the JPMorgan Private Bank, where he was trained in private bank lending, residential lending, unsecured lending, and corporate and middle market lending.
