Charity Bike Ride Raises $1 Million for Arthritis Foundation
San Jose, California – Sept 24, 2012 – Colliers International’s Team Links for Life recently completed the 12th California Coast Classic, a 525-mile, breathtaking bike ride from San Francisco to Santa Monica. Collectively, the California Coast Classic included 275 riders and raised more than $1 million to help fund research and programs for the prevention and cure of arthritis, the leading cause of disability in the U.S.
Colliers International’s Team Links for Life was the #1 fundraising team in Northern California, raising $37,000. In addition, Colliers’ Links for Life Foundation California made a donation for juvenile arthritis research and programs in Northern California. Links for Life’s commitment is to support organizations that make a difference in the lives of children—approximately 300,000 children in the U.S. suffer from some form of arthritis. In the six years it has participated in the California Coast Classic, Team Links for Life members have raised nearly $160,000.
This year’s team included five riders from Colliers International. Jeff Fredericks, Colliers’ Silicon Valley Managing Partner, completed the ride for his fifth time. Jeff’s daughter Lindsey is 13 and has suffered from Juvenile Arthritis since the age of three. Colliers’ Steve Divney completed his fourth California Coast Classic, Dave Evans his third, and for Colliers’ Scott Daugherty and Steve Gibson it was their first California Coast Classic. “Our team always has a blast on this ride, enjoying some of the best coastal scenery that California has to offer,” said Fredericks. “More importantly, I’m so proud of what Team Links for Life has accomplished at this event over the years. We’ve now had about dozen riders complete the ride with Team Links for Life and the fundraising efforts for this critical cause have been over-the-top outstanding.”
