Originating in San Francisco in 2006, the Cushman & Wakefield Future Leaders (CWFL) Annual Broker Bowl-A-Thon will take place at The Presidio Bowl on Thursday, November 13th, 2014, starting at 6:00 p.m. The Presidio Bowl is located at 93 Montgomery Street in San Francisco.
Since its inception nine years ago, this iconic fundraiser benefitting Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco is considered a staple in the Bay Area commercial real estate community. Cushman & Wakefield is hoping to surpass last year’s figures of $62,000 raised. Since the first event in 2006, the Bowl-A-Thon has raised over $362,000 for Habitat’s local Bay Area chapter.
The CWFL Broker Bowl-A-Thon unites the highly competitive local commercial real estate community together for an evening of bowling, camaraderie, fierce competition and community spirit.
According to Sam Wasserstein, an Associate Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s San Francisco office and Chairman of CWFL Northern California: “When this event was first held back in 2006, I doubt anyone would have predicted that nine years later we would have raised over $360,000 for Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. What’s more, this event spawned a national expansion of CWFL and is now used as the case study within C&W for how to create a successful charity event. I’m just thrilled that this is not only one of the most anticipated
events in the local real estate community, but that it continues to benefit such a worthy cause.”
As Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield Future Leaders, Wasserstein’s team is tasked with raising donations and coordinating the myriad of details that enable a large scale charitable event to come to fruition. Wasserstein added, “We are grateful for the support we receive year in and year out from our generous sponsors. The event provides an excellent forum to mingle with San Francisco’s commercial real estate community and more importantly, help to support a great charity. It also happens to be an incredibly fun night.”
The teams are comprised of brokers from all of the competing commercial real estate firms in the Bay Area. Brokers of all skill levels are welcome to compete; and some competitors bring their own bowling balls, customized team shirts, bowling shoes and gloves. Others simply show up, cheer on their favorite team and absorb the warm social atmosphere.
Over 200 people attended last year’s event, which included bowling teams from the city’s most prestigious commercial real estate brokerage and service firms, including Cushman & Wakefield, Cornish & Carey Commercial, CBRE, Newmark Knight Frank, Jones Lang LaSalle, CAC, Kidder Matthews, Cassidy Turley, DTZ, and Avison Young.
A recent post announcing the event on Cushman & Wakefield’s corporate Linkedin site prompted last year’s CWFL Broker Bowl-A-Thon winner (Cornish & Carey) to make a confident challenge: ” We are the 2013 Champions and we will be back!”
