San Francisco Apartment Association honors Laramar with Repositioned Property of the Year and Maintenance Manager of the Year awards

CHICAGO and SAN FRANCISCO (Dec. 19, 2014) – Laramar Management Services, LLC, a subsidiary of the Laramar Group, announces it was honored with two awards from the San Francisco Apartment Association (SFAA) — Repositioned Property of the Year and Maintenance Manager of 2014 — for its premier San Francisco property, The Fillmore Center.

This 10-building apartment community, with 1,114 units, was nominated for Repositioned Property of the Year for its extensive renovations and improvements which have benefitted both the current residents and the local community. In 2014, the mixed-use development received improvements which included exterior painting and waterproofing, a new pet play area, renovations of the leasing office and barbeque area, a new complex-wide fire alarm system, LEED certification compliance, 14 new hot water boilers and renovations to 200 residential units. The Fillmore Center’s design also gives the surrounding community access to its new plaza and garden areas.

The Fillmore Center has also received LEED Silver certification making it the largest existing multifamily development to achieve this milestone. The SFAA awarded Jamie Masterson with Maintenance Manager of the Year, in part, due to his contributions to the LEED Silver accomplishment. Masterson, tenured for seven years, manages a team of 18 employees, directs multiple third-party maintenance vendors and provides support and direction to the Courtesy Patrol Department.

In addition to his contributions to the LEED Silver certification and approaching recertification, Masterson has overseen several 2014 projects increasing energy efficiency and reducing costs:
• conversion from gas fired water heaters to energy efficient boilers and hot water on demand systems
• replacement of fluorescent lighting with L.E.D. lighting
• upgrade of hundreds of HVAC fans
• improved recycling program
• upscale renovations

The SFAA also recognized Masterson’s philanthropic activities outside of his position at The Fillmore Center for overseeing a local Housing Industry Foundation (HIF) charity project.

“We’re honored to be the recipient of the SFAA’s 2014 Repositioned Property of the Year award, and we’re especially pleased to have Jamie Masterson recognized for his incredible contributions,” said Tom Klaess, chief operating officer, The Laramar Group. “We plan to continue our efforts to ensure that The Fillmore Center remains one of the most desirable residential communities in San Francisco.”
