Progressive thinking design firm draws second senior hire in four months
San Francisco, Calif., (May 21, 2019) – FORGE, a full-service architectural and interior design firm based in San Francisco, is pleased to announce the addition of new Senior Project Architect and Team Lead, Benjamin Schaefer. As part of the firm’s leadership team, Schaefer will spearhead a project team focused on integrating hospitality and workplace elements with residential design.
“The lines between how we live, work and play are increasingly becoming blurred, and creating architecture that is flexible enough for contemporary life now requires a holistic approach to the design process,” said Schaefer. “There’s a real desire for environments that provide unique experiences, and I’m excited to work with the talented team at FORGE to provide authentic solutions that marry client needs with an understanding of time and place.”
Bringing more than 15 years of experience in managing successful multifamily, office, residential and municipal projects, Schaefer will work alongside the firm’s full suite of design resources, including the Branding, Environmental Graphics and other internal groups to create comfortable, accommodating environments geared towards meeting today’s integrated culture needs. Touting a specialty in the seamless integration of commercial and hospitality features with multifamily housing,
Schaefer has been part of various leadership teams on notable projects throughout the Bay Area, including the apartment communities’ One Henry Adams and Alchemy by Alta in San Francisco and Alma Station, a built to suit Class-A office building located in Menlo Park. Schaefer’s addition comes on the heels of Managing Director Christopher Blackadder, who joined FORGE in Dec. 2018. Blackadder is tasked with overseeing the firm’s growth and overall operations in the Interiors division with an emphasis on continuing to elevate the stakeholder experience.
“As cities change and our daily operations become more connected, we need to advance our methodologies to be more accommodating of how lifestyles have evolved,” said Eric Ibsen, FORGE’s chief design officer and a member of the executive team. “Ben brings a wealth of expertise that adds a whole new layer into how FORGE is able to approach and deliver projects that ultimately set our clients up for success.”
Schaefer earned his B.A from the University of California, Berkeley and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).About FORGE
