Gensler Welcomes Jim Crawford

SAN FRANCISCO  (August 4, 2015) —  Gensler, the global design firm, announced today that Jim Crawford has joined its lifestyle team as Director of Strategy and Experience Design. Crawford brings a diverse background in Retail Experience Design having previously held positions as an analyst, consultant and strategic experience designer. As the experience team continues to grow and strengthen its offerings, Crawford will utilize skills to enhance the firm’s practice and work with clients in multiple industries connecting digital and physical design with business and consumer objectives.

Prior to joining Gensler, Crawford held the position of Chief Experience Officer (CXO) at Chute Gerdeman where he was responsible for integrating technology into award-winning store and experience design projects. Crawford, additionally, led retail and consumer practices at large technology including the Intel Corporation and SAP. His experience design portfolio features notable clients including Dick’s Sporting Goods, The Walt Disney Company, Target, Metro and more. During his tenures at Forrester Research and Kantar, Crawford delivered research and insights to leading consumer brands, including “Building Smarter Stores,” “Beyond the Bar (Code),” and “The Future of Multichannel Retail.”

Crawford is an established thought leader in the retail industry and has spoken at various high profile events and conferences worldwide including the National Retail Federation Big Show, IRDC, Globalshop, Euroshop the Asian Fashion Summit and more. He is currently authoring the upcoming book, “Redesigning Retailing,” underscoring the need for a store-centric, shopper-centric strategy for designing customer experiences.
