San Francisco, CA, The San Francisco office of top international design and architecture firm Perkins Eastman is pleased to announce that John L. Miller AIA, NCARB, has joined the firm as an Associate Principal. His chief focus will be on enhancing the scope and versatility of the west coast office’s regional healthcare practice. Miller has supported Perkins Eastman in a consultancy role since November 2012, when he was brought on board as Architect of Record and Medical Planner for a variety of pending local and international healthcare projects.
“John will be a tremendous asset to our healthcare practice in San Francisco,” says Managing Principal Leslie Moldow FAIA, “and will significantly strengthen our ties to the local market.” Miller brings to the role over 35 years of experience in large-scale medical projects, including as Project Director for the 473,000 s/f Surgical and Emergency Services Pavilion for UC Davis Medical Center, completed in 2010.
Prior to joining Perkins Eastman, Miller led healthcare studios for the Sacramento offices of Stantec Architecture and HMC Architects. For over 15 years Miller presided over Miller TECHNIKA Architecture + Planning, a 28-person firm specializing in clinical facility development, operational consulting, and design services for the healthcare industry, which he founded in 1988. In 2012, Sacramento Municipal Utility District wanted to demonstrate that its new 350,000 s/f LEED Platinum, Net Zero Energy operations center could deliver both operational efficiency and energy savings. Miller successfully directed an integrated team of utility industry consultants, technology specialists and industrial engineers who re-optimized SMUD’s operations and workplace environment so staff could work more effectively while using dramatically less energy.
Miller is a member of the American Institute of Architects, certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is a licensed architect in California, Oregon, and Washington State.
