SAN FRANCISCO, June 30, 2015 – McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (“McCarthy”) announces the addition of Alice Nguyen as estimating director for its Northern Pacific Division. Working out of its San Francisco office, Nguyen will lead the estimating team, bringing 25 years of experience working in design and construction cost planning and management. She previously served as vice president at AECOM.
“Alice brings a deep history and industry knowledge of providing favorable, reliable and effective cost and scheduling outcomes for a wide variety of projects, including large-scale commercial, infrastructure, education and healthcare structures – the types of high-performance projects in which we excel as a builder,” said George Speights, McCarthy’s Northern Pacific Division vice president of preconstruction services. “At McCarthy, we’ve been honing our skills for 150 years, which helps us make smart decisions when we use efficient cost budgeting strategies, and Alice is a trusted and reputable professional that will only enhance the budgeting experience for our clients.”
As estimating director, Nguyen will directly manage McCarthy’s San Francisco estimating department staff and is responsible for project budgeting and estimating, utilizing McCarthy’s technology database and real time 5D estimating processes.
While at AECOM, a global provider of architectural, engineering and construction services, Nguyen managed a business unit of more than 250 staff delivering full services (environmental studies, design, engineering and cost management) to major clients in Northern California. Previous to AECOM, she was principal at Davis Langdon, an international cost and project management consultant. In this role, Alice worked with owners on establishing and managing budgets for complex healthcare, research laboratories and higher education facilities in Northern California.
Nguyen is actively involved in industry organizations including the American Society of Professional Estimators and Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering. She earned her B.S. in from the University of California, Berkeley.
