San Anselmo, CA (July 25, 2016) – Meridian Commercial President Matt Brown announced today that the firm represented Kalania LLC in the sale of 115 Tunstead Avenue in Downtown San Anselmo, which for many years had been occupied by Seawood Photo. The 1,794-square-foot retail building is across the street from the San Anselmo Town Hall and Library. It sold for $675,000.
Samuel Ko with Meridian Commercial represented the building owner in the sale.
The buyer, Tazola LLC is making some improvements to the interiors, adding a new HVAC system and restroom, and plans to open a running shoes and apparel store this summer, according to Ko.
The new store will be a boast to downtown San Anselmo which has suffered from an above average retail vacancy rate in recent years. In January of this year, the San Anselmo Town Council discussed a retail study prepared by Robert Eyler, chief economist for the Marin Economic Forum and a professor of economics at Sonoma State University. The study focused on the types of businesses San Anselmo residents are attracted to and the businesses that San Anselmo residents most frequently leave town to buy goods and services.
Seawood Photo opened in 1947 and is a popular shopping destination for serious camera buffs and photographers throughout the North Bay. The store owners moved its retail operations to 4thStreet in San Rafael last year.
