SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 18, 2014 – Barker Pacific Group (BPG), announced today that its landmark building, One Sansome Street, has achieved LEED Platinum v4 certification today, achieving the highest level of certification in environmental sustainability from the US Green Building Council. One Sansome is the only building in San Francisco to achieve the v4 certification, and the second commercial building in its class worldwide.
“The team at One Sansome has worked hard to gain this first LEED Platinum v4 certification with guidance from our LEED consultant BuildingWise,” said Michael Barker, Managing Director of Barker Pacific Group. “Completing the LEED program’s newest Platinum v4 shows Barker Pacific Group’s dedication to being a market-leader and environmental advocate, proving that even stringent green building practices can be successfully incorporated into long-lived office buildings.”
The US Green Building Council originally awarded the building a LEED Gold rating in 2010. Since receiving the Gold status, Barker Pacific greatly increased the building’s efficiency and decreased waste produced.
One Sansome was specifically recognized for earning all points available for transportation, energy and indoor water performance categories. The building performs ongoing solid waste management, achieving a diversion rate of more than 78 percent, with 75 percent being the threshold for exemplary performance. Additionally, more than 91 percent (by cost) of janitorial products used in the building are sustainable, from compostable garbage can liners to floor sealers and disinfectants.
BPG took ownership of One Sansome in a joint venture with Prudential Real Estate Investors in 2010 and serves as the property manager of the 43-story, 739,000 square-foot Class-A office tower.
In addition to receiving LEED Platinum status, Barker Pacific Group has achieved multiple energy efficiency awards for its Hamilton Landing office park, several former air force hangars transformed into Class A office space that excelled in efficiency standards years before the green movement began. BPG was also named Green Business of the Year by Novato Chamber of Commerce in 2013.
