Popular market will remain open for business during construction
Emeryville, CA – City Center Realty Partners, LLC, owners of Public Market Emeryville, are pleased to announce the first phase of a comprehensive renovation and transformation of the market hall portion of the property. During the remodeling, Public Market’s popular Food Hall vendors, as well as anchor businesses HOT ITALIAN, Urban Outfitters, Guitar Center and Peet’s Coffee will remain open. Construction begins today and is scheduled to continue through the first quarter of 2015.
The renovation will enhance visitors’ dining and shopping experience in several ways. The conversion of existing vendor stalls into larger cafes with sidewalk and street presence will offer more sit-down dining options. The remaining food stalls will be updated with new finishes such as reclaimed wood, glass tile and zinc plating. Public Market’s common spaces also will be updated, with the renovation including plans to expose the concrete floor, paint the building superstructure and install new lighting.
“We’ve got great things in store for this next stage of Public Market Emeryville,” said City Center Realty Partners’ Co-Founder Mark Stefan. “The new crisp, clean design will brighten and reconfigure the market hall and boost the good community feeling that the Public Market has always provided.”
To complement the eclectic mix of food that the Market’s vendors offer, Public Market recently brought on Off the Grid for a weekly event featuring eight rotating food trucks. Off the Grid’s gatherings take place Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot near the Public Market’s eastern/main entrance.
“We’re excited about the upcoming re-design of the Public Market and the addition of events like Off the Grid and Display, that really activate the space,” noted Andrea Lepore, co-founder & creative director of HOT ITALIAN pizza and panini bar. “We love being an integral part of this revitalized destination in the heart of the East Bay, not only for lunch but dinner and weekends now, too.”
