San Francisco Casino and Hotel Appraiser Elaine Sahlins Awarded MAI Designation

Pleasanton, CA,  January 23, 2015 – Elaine Sahlins was recently awarded the MAI designation by the Appraisal Institute (AI).

She is a Senior Vice President with HVS in San Francisco and has been with the firm since 1997. In that time, she has developed a niche for resort feasibility studies, appraisal of complex leases, partial interest appraisals, casino/gaming valuations, management company valuations, and hotel market analysis. Elaine authors HVS’ annual Hotel Development Cost Survey (since 1998).

The MAI designation is awarded after a rigorous program of advanced education, practical experience, and testing that demonstrates professional knowledge, understanding, and ability.

The MAI designation has long been recognized by courts of law, governmental agencies, financial institutions and investors as marks of excellence in the field of real estate valuation and analysis. Organized in 1932, The Appraisal Institute is the oldest U.S.-based professional appraisal association with 22,000 valuation professionals in almost 60 countries.  Elaine Sahlins, MAI, is a member of the Northern California Chapter, founded in 1937, and is one of the largest chapters in the U.S.
