Sares Regis Group Commercial Division Welcomes Five New Hires

SAN MATEO, CA – JANUARY 7, 2020 – Sares Regis Group of Northern California (SRGNC) is expanding its Commercial Division with multiple new hires. The leading Bay Area real estate developer has hired Joanna Chellino, Steve Coates, Courtney Davis, Joe South, and Rashmika Satyarthi in various roles. They will drive the development of a number of high-profile office projects throughout the Peninsula.

Joanna Chellino joins SRGNC as Senior Project Manager, where she will bring her extensive experience in preconstruction and construction to the team working on Fortinet’s new Sunnyvale headquarters. Ms. Chellino previously worked with Nibbi Brothers General Contractors, Webcor, and Clark Construction Group on a number of large projects such as the 460,000-square-foot San Francisco General Hospital, Highland Hospital Acute Tower, John Muir Medical Center Hospital Tower, and the San Jose International Airport expansion. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and has a BArch from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a minor in Construction Management.

Steve Coates joins SRGNC as Vice President, where he will be leading various ground-up campus development projects. Coates comes to SRGNC with 37 years of industry experience working on lock, dam, hydropower, utility, and bridge projects, which will substantially add to SRGNC’s depth in this sector. He worked for many years with Level 10 and Turner Construction where he contributed to a number of Google projects, and was previously County Engineer and Director of Environmental Health for Rensselaer County, New York, where his responsibilities included fixed assets (highways, bridges, buildings, and other facilities), regulation of the county’s water and wastewater systems, and being Chief Building Official for all county land. Coates has a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, New York, and is a Licensed Professional Engineer (NY).

In her new role of Senior Project Manager at SRGNC, Courtney Davis will focus on entitlement efforts on multiple projects. Davis previously worked as an attorney at the law firm Allen Matkins, where she was Senior Counsel for the firm’s Land Use and

Environmental and Natural Resources Groups. While there, she was honored by the San Francisco Business Times as a 2017 Women of Influence Rising Star. Davis has represented both public and private clients in permitting, transactional, and litigation matters with a focus on water rights, land use, and energy.  Before she began her career as an attorney, Davis served as an Associate Project Manager for River Rock Development Company in Sacramento working on both residential and commercial projects. Davis has a BA in German from UC Berkeley, a BS in Business Administration from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and a JD from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin.

As Senior Project Manager at SRGNC, Joe South will manage several innovative infrastructure projects in Sunnyvale. South previously worked as a Senior Associate at St. Regis Properties in San Francisco, where he led all phases of the acquisition of a $70M, 375-unit, multi-family project; managed the repositioning, leasing, design, permitting, construction, and build-out of three commercial projects; led market analysis, underwriting and provided strategic recommendations to the investment committee; and performed asset management and disposition support for a $300M+ portfolio. South is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served as Company Commander/Logistics Officer. He has an MBA and IGCRE from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business where he is a guest lecturer on financial modeling, and he holds a BS in English Literature and Engineering Core from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Rashmika Satyarthi joins SRGNC as Project Manager, leveraging her engineering experience on both infrastructure and ground-up development projects. Satyarthi was most recently an Associate Engineer with Schaaf and Wheeler Consulting Civil Engineers in Santa Clara, where she provided water resources engineering consulting services for public and private land development clients throughout the Bay Area. Rashmika’s prior experience included bridge projects while with Knight Engineers and Architects in Chicago and with Granite Construction in Northbrook, Illinois, plus contributions on the BART Warm Springs Extension project while working for Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. in Fairfield, California. She has an MS in Environmental Engineering from USC and a BS in Civil Engineering from UCLA, and she is a California Licensed Professional Engineer (Civil).
