SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5, 2020 – Webcor, one of California’s largest general and specialty construction contractors, has unveiled a new specialty contracting unit, Webcor Craft. Formed by merging Webcor’s three self-perform divisions and its sister company Paramount Builders Supply, Webcor Craft was created to formally brand, position in the market and scale Webcor’s rapidly growing self-perform divisions.
While Webcor remains true to its origins and companywide commitment to “One Webcor” as an organization of nearly 1,500 general and specialty contracting employees, its growth — with revenue quadrupling in the last five years and topping $2 billion in 2018 — brought forth a need to showcase the many long-standing specialty contracting services that the company provides in addition to its general contracting services. Webcor Craft’s specialty contracting services in concrete, drywall and carpentry offer the parent company significant advantages in collaboration, safety standards, quality and efficiency. Moreover, approximately half of Webcor Craft’s contracts are with general contractors other than Webcor.
“The last time Webcor made a significant change to its governance and brand positioning, we were a $500 million company,” said Webcor CEO Jes Pedersen. “At over $2 billion today, I am proud of our leadership in such important areas as building landmark structures, design-build expertise, specialty contracting, sustainability and diversity. Continuing to evolve with the establishment of Webcor Craft honors our people and the work we excel at, while also looking toward the future as we develop and grow with market and industry demands.”
At the helm of Webcor Craft is Chris Plue, a nearly 20-year Webcor veteran who has long led the company’s concrete division. As senior vice president and Webcor Craft’s general manager, Plue brings extensive executive-level experience coupled with niche expertise in the intricacies of building and serving in specialty contractor capacities. Known as an innovator, Plue led the development of a rapid floor cycle delivery model dubbed the “three day pour cycle” that brings to high-rise construction a collaborative approach that emphasizes safety while providing unmatched cost and time savings.
“Webcor has long been a specialty contracting pioneer, and we have excelled in attracting some of the industry’s most talented craftsman and leaders,” said Plue. “It was time to adopt the best industry practices in brand identity in order to remain competitive, marketable and ready to grow, and also, potentially, to add new services under the Webcor Craft umbrella so that we can keep providing clients with the top-notch service and expertise they expect from Webcor.”
Introducing Webcor Craft offers aligned branding and updated logos for each of its specialty business divisions — Webcor Concrete, Webcor Drywall, Webcor Carpentry and Webcor Equipment (formerly Paramount Builders Supply). These will begin appearing at all Webcor Craft job sites.
