“Oasis away from the city” brings buyers of 3-bed homes in low $900,000s

San Francisco — Dec. 16, 2020 — San Francisco’s housing market, traditionally one of the most robust in the country, has suffered from a lack of new construction that is about half of regional goals, according to residential real estate figures. The San Francisco Shipyard, one of the newest for-sale communities, boasts over 500 residents who’ve taken advantage of a window of opportunity for amenities, bay views and work-from-home technology “just right for the times.”

“With the difficulty of building, the lack of land and high construction costs, there hasn’t been as much housing as San Francisco’s needed but people continue to seek out homes to fit their needs and lifestyles,” said Garrett Chan, sales director at Lennar’s SFShipyard. “We’re fortunate to be offering new 1- 2- and 3-bedroom homes attracting young couples and singles as well as families moving up from smaller homes. Where else can you get a spacious 3-bed in the low $900,000’s?”

With several communities open and selling, the Shipyard’s hundreds of residents are making it a thriving, growing and welcoming place, he added. Many homes sport bridge-to-bridge views, and the quiet and open spaces are frequented by runners, dog-walkers and kids.

“It’s an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city but has a San Francisco address that’s just a few minutes from downtown and the Peninsula, close to Caltrain for Silicon Valley workers, and a few blocks away from Dogpatch’s vibrant restaurants and entertainment,” said Chan.

Fiber optic cabling runs throughout the homes to make working from home easy, without the signal interruption of older homes.

“One thing that’s unique to Lennar is our home-automation infrastructure,” he said. At the Shipyard, that means engineering state-of-the-art wireless access points into the design and construction of every new home, and connectivity for the owner’s devices and systems.

“When you move in, you can plug in and have incredible wi-fi connectivity and control your door locks, window shades and so much more, from your phone or by voice command,” said Chan.

Work from home (WFH) buyers are taking advantage of Lennar’s Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Home Design such as

— Ruckus Wi-Fi Access

— Schlage Encode Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt

— Honeywell T6 Pro Smart Thermostat

— Ring Video Doorbell Pro

The Shipyard’s open floor plans with large windows “capture light people can’t imagine having from other places they’ve lived in San Francisco,” he added.  “The weather’s great and the homes have views you that you would never expect.”

All the SFShipyard homes include one-car parking that can cost $50,000 to $150,000 elsewhere.

“We know our home prices can’t be beat,” said Chan, echoed by real estate agents citing quality, amenities, spacious floor plans and greenspace parks close to the waterfront.
