RICHMOND, Calif. – November 23, 2022 – Amazon today announced the launch of its new Same Day facility in Richmond California, known as SCA3, just in time for the holiday shopping season – enabling Prime customers in the East Bay to receive packages within just hours from clicking “purchase.” This is Amazon’s first same day facility in the Bay Area, and second in Northern California.
“We are thrilled to finally be bringing our same-day service to customers here in the Bay Area,” explains Derek Blott, General Manager of SCA3 in Richmond, CA. “Our teams have been preparing for the holiday shopping season since the start of the year, and we’re ready to deliver for customers, kicking the season off on Cyber Monday.”
Amazon’s Same-Day buildings serve as mini-fulfillment centers, optimized for delivering hundreds of thousands of items with ultra-fast same-day delivery speed. These are first-of-its-kind buildings that are optimized for faster click-to-delivery speeds.
SCA3 will primarily serve Amazon Prime customers in the east bay, including customers as far north as Benicia, as far east as Brentwood, and as far south as Fremont. Prime members in the surrounding service areas will now be able to receive orders within hours from when they click “purchase.” The launch of SCA3 is just the latest example of our how delivery innovations give customers more choice, speed, and convenience when receiving their packages.
Located at 6045 Giant Hwy, the 200,000 square foot Same-Day fulfillment center employs hundreds and is continuing to hire for part-time and full-time roles with a starting pay of $19 an hour and includes comprehensive benefits such as healthcare, vision and dental care, paid time off, up to 20 weeks of fully paid parental leave, and more for both employees and their families.
