After completing an 11-year tenure as architect for the university and chief planning officer at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia, Neuman is returning to California, where he had previously served as university architect at Stanford University and the University of California, Irvine. Architectural Resources Group has a long-standing professional relationship with Neuman, having worked with him at UVA (Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy) and at Stanford (Memorial Church, Hanna House, Green Library, and the Cantor Center for Visual Arts, among others).

“Many institutions, both private and public, are finding that their facilities are becoming obsolete while facing increasing challenges to accommodate growth and change,” said Neuman. “Our new alliance will allow us to help our clients with older facilities and/or underused land to leverage these resources to meet complex contemporary needs and support future flexibility.”

“Architectural Resources Group’s extensive expertise in architecture, preservation planning, and building conservation complements Neuman’s significant experience as a university architect at acclaimed institutions, as well as his extensive consulting history,” said Stephen Farneth, FAIA, founding principal of Architectural Resources Group. “There’s a great advantage to having someone with Neuman’s institutional background—he offers the client’s perspective in an in-depth fashion.”

Operating from Architectural Resources Group’s offices in San Francisco, both firms will support each other on collaborative projects, with Neu Campus Planning leading efforts related to planning-oriented projects and Architectural Resources Group continuing to maintain leadership on architectural, historic preservation, and conservation projects.
