Bank of the West Tower Awarded Prestigious LEED® Green Building Certification

First Capitol Mall, Class A High Rise to Earn Platinum Certification

Sacramento, CA – Bank of the West Tower announced today that it has been awarded LEED® Platinum under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Existing Buildings (EB) category.

Bank of the West Tower, located at 500 Capitol Mall, the premier business address in Sacramento, was developed by Tsakopoulos Investments and completed in 2009. Managed by Tsakopoulos Management Company, LLC, this 26-story, 445,000 square foot landmark building, located on Capitol Mall, offers sweeping 360 degree views from the Sacramento River to the Sierras.

Bank of the West Tower is extremely energy efficient, with a façade clad in polished granite and dual-pane, high-performance glass, designed to maximize the introduction of daylight and reduce solar heat gain. To reach the goal of Platinum certification, additional green features implemented at the property included: low flow water fixtures throughout the building which reduce indoor water usage by 33%, improved green cleaning policies and practices, and implementation of practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Bank of the West Tower earned ENERGY STAR® label in 2014 as well.

Bank of the West Tower obtained recognition with strategies used in all LEED Categories including Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Design.
