FOSTER CITY, California – July 10, 2017 – Construction has begun on a 20,000 square foot, tenant improvement project that will serve as the new headquarters for Mattson, Silicon Valley’s resident food and beverage innovation firm.
The new headquarters at 343 Hatch Drive in Foster City is designed by the San Francisco office of IA Interior Architects with San Jose-based Built with Principle serving as the general contractor.
Notable features include:
- A large, front and center food laboratory that will support Mattson’s product development for a wide-range of food and beverage clients, from startups to multinationals
- Two food studios for consumer insights and client co-creation
- Two pilot plants, one dedicated to Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and one for foodservice
- Unique niches throughout the facility to showcase products and packaging created by Mattson for its clients
- Private offices kept away from the perimeter glass to allow access to natural light for the rest of the office.
- Warm, natural and textured materials
Mattson’s new facility also includes a reception area, offices, conference rooms, an employee break room and multiple kitchens. It was designed to focus on showcasing Mattson’s fully integrated approach to food and beverage innovation – from concept creation to product development, from brand strategy to packaging design, from commercialization to consumer insights.
The project is expected to be complete before the end of 2017.
“Mattson’s new facility will set a new bar for our industry as the most state-of-the-art food and beverage innovation center in North America,” said Justin Shimek Ph.D., CEO of Mattson.
“We look forward to continuing our work as world-class innovators in our new building which will further our ability to provide expert product and menu strategy to our clients as well as the broader food and beverage industry,” adds Barb Stuckey, President of Mattson.
“Food is an essential part of Mattson’s culture,” said Lee Moulton, Project Director and Senior Associate at IA Interior Architects. “It was therefore critical to design the new headquarters to provide an environment to have lunch together, serve food to clients and have places that allow for the celebration of food.”
“We’re excited to be building Mattson’s new headquarters and are committed to working hard to bring their vision to a beautiful reality,” said Jill Hagaman, President and CEO of Built with Principle. “We look forward to delivering a quality project that will enhance Mattson’s food innovation, product development and brand strategy and design efforts.”
