Walnut Creek, CA (May 1, 2012) –  Miller Starr Regalia, a leading California real estate law firm, announced today the hiring of Vice President & General Counsel of J.F. Shea Co., Inc., Paul Mosley, the hiring of Blake Wettengel of McConnell, Dunning & Barwick LLP, and the opening of its new office in Southern California. The new office will be located at 4695 MacArthur Court in Newport Beach.  Miller Starr Regalia’s other offices are in Walnut Creek and Palo Alto.

“Miller Starr Regalia represents clients throughout the state including many real estate developers, homebuilders, retailers, and title companies based in Southern California.  Given these longstanding relationships and our overall optimism about the Southern California real estate market, we are very excited to announce the opening of our newest office in Newport Beach, with the additions of Paul Mosley and Blake Wettengel to the firm,” said Managing Shareholder, Anthony Leones.

Mr. Mosley joins Miller Starr Regalia after a successful tenure of more than seven years with J.F. Shea Co., Inc.  While at Shea, Mr. Mosley worked in several distinct business operations—Shea Homes, J.F. Shea Construction, Shea Properties and Shea Ventures.  Shea Homes builds and sells homes in six states and is one of the largest private homebuilders in the Country.  J.F. Shea Construction is a major infrastructure contractor, specializing in tunneling and water infrastructure projects.  J.F. Shea Construction is presently working with partners on the 2nd Avenue and the No. 7 Line subway tunnels in New York City.

Prior to working for J.F. Shea Co., Inc., Mr. Mosley was a transactional attorney and partner in the real estate and project development department of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he worked for almost 20 years.  Mr. Mosley has represented an impressive list of Fortune 500 companies, including various developers, builders, retailers and financial institutions.  He has experience in real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, real estate finance, M&A and private equity, leasing, environmental, water, land use and development.

Mr. Mosley received his Juris Doctorate from Brigham Young University.  He also received Bachelors degrees in both Economics and Accounting from Brigham Young University.  While Mr. Mosley is not a licensed accountant, he passed the CPA exam and was awarded his CPA certificate from the State of Utah.  Prior to attending law school, Mr. Mosley worked as a tax accountant and he takes an active role in resolving tax issues that arise in his transactions.

“For a business lawyer that focuses on real estate and project development transactions, Miller Starr Regalia provides the perfect platform from which to serve clients.  Miller Starr attorneys have impeccable credentials and provide cost-effective, practical advice to their clients.  After working with them for years, I am excited to join their team of smart, client-focused lawyers,”  said Paul Mosley.

“Many of us have worked with Paul over the years in his capacity as Shea’s General Counsel, so when Paul decided to return to private practice, it was a very easy decision for us to bring an attorney of his quality and character on board.  We are confident that with Paul’s leadership and skills, Miller Starr Regalia will be better positioned to serve both its existing client base as well as new clients throughout the region,”  said Leones.

Blake Wettengel, a real estate and business transactional attorney, will be joining Mr. Mosley in the Newport Beach office. Previously Of Counsel with McConnell, Dunning & Barwick LLP, Mr. Wettengel has a strong background in transactional real estate matters, including purchase and sale, development, leasing, and finance, as well as experience in corporate and business transactions, including private equity, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions. Prior to working for McConnell, Dunning & Barwick LLP, Mr. Wettengel was an associate at Snell & Wilmer LLP. Mr. Wettengel received his Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law and his Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University.
