Irvine, CA– MVE & Partners, a leading architecture planning and design firm, announces the hiring of a new Principal, Marios Savopoulos, AIA. Savopoulos will lead the development of MVE’s mixed-use placemaking studio, joining more than 100 professionals in the firm’s Irvine headquarters. He joins a team of exceptional Principals, including Richard Castillo, AIA, NCARB, Jeff Larsen, AIA, Ken Nilmeier and Darin Schoolmeester, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. They welcome Marios to the leadership team and look forward to collaborating with him.
Bringing more than 25 years of experience in mixed-use design and planning, including lifestyle and high-end retail, entertainment, theater, office and hospitality, Savopoulos has spent most of his career forming trendsetting destinations, combining restaurant, hotel, office, specialty retail and multifamily residential components to create communities. His responsibilities at MVE will include cultivating new business relationships and managing current clients as he utilizes his wealth of experience in retail-oriented mixed-use design to develop MVE’s placemaking studio.

Savopoulos is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), serving on ULI’s Mixed-Use Council, and contributing to conferences and panels on placemaking, mixed-use and urban planning. He has been recognized with some of the industry’s highest honors, including multiple ICSC Design and Development Awards, Gold Nugget Grand Awards and SADIs for projects including Pacific Theatres at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, Calif., Bridgeport Village in Tualatin, Oregon and Island Cinema at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Calif.
Prior to joining MVE & Partners, Savopoulos served as Senior Principal at Perkowitz + Ruth Architects, where he founded the P + R Placemaking Studio. He earned his bachelor of architecture degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition to expanding the leadership team with Savopoulos, MVE has also promoted 25 employees, including 19 promotions to the Associate position, three to Associate Partner, two Senior Associate Partners and a Director of Asian Operations. MVE & Partners has planned and designed many major mixed-used and multifamily projects in the Bay Area and across Northern California in the firm’s 39-year history, including Avalon Walnut Creek, Walnut Creek Transit Village, Uptown Oakland, and Mission Bay Blocks 5 and 11.
