Seniors living in Contra Costa County’s Lamorinda area will soon have a new state of the art senior community that provides 46 affordable homes for the area’s senior citizens. Lafayette Senior Apartments, is being developed by Eden Housing, in collaboration with the City of Lafayette.
Lafayette Senior Apartments will increase the affordable living options for the growing population of older residents in Contra Costa County. The project will provide apartments to seniors with annual household incomes that are at or below 20% – 50% of the Contra Costa County Area Median Income. Currently, that limit is $14,4960 to $37,400 for a household of two. Residents will pay 30% of their household income to live there. Thirty-seven percent of the homes at Lafayette Senior will be set aside for seniors with physical disabilities.
Eden Housing has partnered with the City of Lafayette, Union Bank, N.A., Bank of America, N.A., State of California Department of Housing and Community Development, Contra Costa County Department of Conservation and Development, and the Housing Authority of Contra Costa County for financial support on this $24.1 million project. Lafayette Senior is made possible by critical affordable housing programs including: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – Federal; Home Investment Partnership Act Program (HOME) – Federal; Housing Choice Voucher – Federal; Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) – Federal; Multifamily Housing Program (MHP) – State (Prop 1C); and Redevelopment Agency Tax Increment Funding – Local/State.
