SCB Expands Interiors Practice in San Francisco

Gordon L’Estrange, AIA, CASp Joins Firm as Director of Interiors

SAN FRANCISCO / CHICAGO — Award-winning architecture, interior design and planning firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) is pleased to announce that Gordon L’Estrange has joined the firm as Director of Interiors of its San Francisco office. With nearly two decades of experience, L’Estrange has earned a reputation for design work that is quintessentially modern, sensitive to context and program, and thoughtfully executed. He strives to help each client harness and convert their excitement and passion into creative design solutions that relate to their ultimate goals for each building or space.

“With more than 18 years of experience providing commercial architecture and interior design services for a variety of clients in San Francisco and throughout Northern California, we are confident Gordon will make a strong impact leading our team in San Francisco,” says Sheyla Conforte, SCB’s Principal of Interiors.

L’Estrange will lead SCB’s San Francisco Interiors Studio, working to develop new business and establish long-term client relationships. His design focuses are incorporating changing trends in corporate organization structure as drivers for improved workplace design, and focusing on how to engage today’s employee needs while still meeting an organization’s real estate portfolio goals.

“Gordon will work with Interiors leadership to support our efforts across sectors, including corporate commercial, higher education, and residential work,” states Chris Pemberton, Principal in Charge of SCB’s San Francisco office.

L’Estrange’s experience includes commercial architecture, interior architecture, and project management, and he has designed and managed over one million square feet of office and retail tenant improvement projects, representing both property ownerships and tenant companies from initial leasing support through occupancy.

L’Estrange also has extensive building renovation and adaptive re-use experience, including the relocation and re-design of the Audi dealership in Oakland and the historic rehabilitation, change–of-use and seismic upgrade of 1335 Sutter St., San Francisco. New ground-up building design experience includes the new 20,000 SF Porsche dealership building in Livermore.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, L’Estrange comes to SCB from a Senior Associate position at Lionakis, where he led the San Francisco Commercial Architecture & Interiors Studio. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Certified Access Specialist Institute, and the BOMA San Francisco codes and regulations committee. L’Estrange holds a Bachelor of Architectural Science degree conferred by Trinity College Dublin.
